Word Count In MS Word

Word still has a Word Count feature that is so nice for those who need to write a specific number of words in their documents. Now word offers a toolbar that makes the word count even easier to use.

To open the Word Count toolbar, choose View|Toolbars|Word Count from the menus. If you wish to anchor the new toolbar, just drag it to the existing toolbar area and release the mouse button.

When you need to check the most recent word count, just click Recount.

Organize Your Outlook Columns

Keep your eye on the important stuff by removing columns that you don't use and adding others that you will. Right-click the heading row in your inbox and choose Columns. Add or remove columns by enabling or disabling the check boxes; alter the order of colummns using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

Is One of Your New Year's Resolutions To Be More Productive?

Being more productive with the time we have is a common goal we all share. Technology can help us become more productive when set up properly.

Productivity Checklist: Answer yes or no to the following questions.

1. Are you spending more than 5 seconds waiting for your computer to something? (printing, opening files, saving files, etc.)

2. Do you use the internet on a regular basis as part of your work?

3. Do you have to physically move yourself to a certain computer in order to access files on it? Do you transfer files frequently to your computer using a floppy?

4. Have you ever lost valuable hours of work or lost unsaved files due to power surges or outages?

If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, your computer systems may be causing you to loose productivity! The good news is there are solutions to all of these problems.

Solutions

1. Increase the amount of RAM (memory) in your computer.

2. Get a high speed internet connection such as ADSL or Broadband cable.

3. Network your computers and configure them properly to allow access to the programs and information you need.

4. Invest in an uninterruptable power supply (UPS), a battery power source for your computer.

All theses solutions are fairly inexpensive but can provide huge increases in productivity that will pay for themselves in a very short time.
